Local transport
In addition to a rental car, taxis are a cheap and comfortable means of transportation even for longer distances. The bus network is well developed and very cheap but public busses often are very full. Also a fast Metro network is available in Dubai connecting important places in the whole town with two lines. Very comfortable and inexpensive is the purchase of a ticket: for a small basic fee you buy a credit card to which you can load any credit. This card is scanned when you enter the train and after you have left it. That’s it! The corresponding ticket price is automatically debited from the card, the credit of which is valid for several years. If the credit on leaving the metro station to pay is not enough, a siren makes a lot of noise, so that the present Metro staff caring for the defaulting payer cares for you!
